Imago Group plc, Europe’s largest video communications distributor, has announced a UK distribution agreement to sell VideoMeet, the interoperable video conferencing service that is being delivered by German telecommunications giant, Deutsche Telekom.

VideoMeet provides the means for moving video conferencing away from the company network and into the Cloud, making it more accessible for a broader range of corporate users. The service can be deployed independently, or via existing video conferencing technology. It will interconnect any kind of video conferencing system from established providers such as Polycom and Cisco through to desktop endpoints such as Skype, Google Video Chat and Microsoft Link. Users subscribe to the VideoMeet service which allows them to use a web interface to invite participants by email, regardless of the system they are using. The only requirement is an Internet connection. Invited participants will be able to join the call for free, as the moderator is the only party charged for the conference.

Ian Vickerage, managing director of Imago Group, said: “We anticipate a large take-up of the VideoMeet service, which we believe will be a market-changer for video conferencing. The market is increasingly moving towards desktop and mobile video conferencing and VideoMeet facilitates this because it can support and connect people regardless of the system they use or where they work from, whether it’s a head office, a remote branch, from home or on the road.

Imago will be targeting its network of resellers for whom there will be substantial commissions on subscriptions to the VideoMeet service. The minimum subscription is 12 months.

Ian Vickerage continued: “By introducing customers to VideoMeet, resellers will receive recurring revenue, plus the opportunity to proliferate more end users within a customer organisation.”
