Access to HD video conferencing through a browser has just been made possible thanks to an enhancement to Deutsche Telekom’s unique, cloud-based VideoMeet service.
VideoMeet Connect allows business users to join VideoMeet video conferences directly from a web browser without the need for additional software. This represents a significant step forward in the provision of desktop HD video conferencing, eliminating the need for video client downloads, reducing the risk of security violations and removing issues relating to the difficulty of downloading video because of internal firewalls. The other key advantage of VideoMeet Connect is that it is free to employees across enterprises that are subscribing to the VideoMeet service.
Launched in Europe earlier this year, VideoMeet is the first product of its kind to connect users of all video conferencing systems from Skype, Microsoft Lync and Google Chat, through to Polycom, Lifesize and Cisco solutions. Deutsche Telekom’s VideoMeet, powered by the Blue Jeans Network, is the only service on the market currently offering such a cross-platform video conferencing solution.
The introduction of VideoMeet Connect now makes the provision of VC even broader, enabling users without access to any solution to easily join and participate in a VideoMeet conference. With just one click, VideoMeet Connect is loaded at the request of the user and directly activated in the browser, providing instant connection to the VideoMeet conference.
Through VideoMeet, users can connect to any location at any time using any Internet-enabled device including desktop PC’s, tablets and smartphones. The solution will accommodate a conference of up to 25 individual participants, and because no hardware is required, the risk of technical issues is minimised and there are no system upgrade costs.
Ian Vickerage, Managing Director of Imago Plc, Europe’s largest video solutions company and Deutsche Telekom’s partner in the UK, said: “VideoMeet Connect is all about ease of use. Businesses that subscribe to the VideoMeet service can now reach out through a web browser to customers, partners, colleagues and employees, regardless of where they are or what, if any, video conferencing system they already use. The benefits of video conferencing to business are well known, not just the reduction in travel costs and time, but also the enhancements that face-to-face communication delivers whether people are in the same building or located in different parts of the world. VideoMeet Connect just makes this more easily achievable and for an incredibly low cost.”
VideoMeet Connect is available through ‘Minute’ plans that start at £295 per month for unlimited concurrent meetings and unlimited registered users. Fixed cost meeting rooms start at £590 per month with unlimited use and unlimited registered users. Subscribers to both VideoMeet plans will have free access to the VideoMeet Connect service. The prices quoted are fixed and regular updates and upgrades are delivered as part of the plan.
