Mahindra & Mahindra India’s largest Tractor manufacturer deploys a Cisco TelePresence at eight sites

In India, the number one manufacturer of tractors – Mahindra & Mahindra – has deployed a Cisco TelePresence solution at three company sites and plans more at five other locations

19 June 2010. Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) was first known for theassembly under licence of the iconic Willys Jeep in India. The company later branched out into manufacture of light commercial vehicles (LCVs) and agricultural tractors, rapidly growing from being a manufacturer of army vehicles and tractors to an automobile major. At present, M&M is the leader in the utility vehicle (UV) segment in India with its flagship UV, the Scorpio (See picture).

M&M is the largest manufacturer of tractors in India and one of the leading tractor brands in the world. It designs, develops, manufactures and markets tractors as well as farm implements. Mahindra Tractors(China) Co. Ltd. manufactures tractors for the growing Chinese market .

M&M made its entry into the passenger car segment with the Logan in April 2007 under the Mahindra Renault joint venture. M&M will make its maiden entry into the heavy trucks segment with Mahindra Navistar, the joint venture with International Truck, USA.

According to Cisco officials, the company has completed successfully the deployment of a Cisco TelePresence solution at three locations of Mahindra & Mahindra. The three locations are Kandivli and Worli in Mumbai and Mahindra Research Valley in Chennai. The plan is for eight locations to be equipped with this Cisco TelePresence solution in a phased manner at locations across tIndia.
