Reversing the trend of searching through the 1 million+ mobile phone deals online, Bid My Bill is today launched as the “anti-price comparison” website, by turning the whole process on its head.
Its impossible to find the best phone deal, without first knowing what’s been used in the past. Bid My Bill solves this problem by automatically gathering a phone users historical usage of minutes, texts & data; then summarising them in an online auction for phone companies to bid upon.
Turning around the sales process means phone companies out-bid each other, driving the price down and making the deal cheaper. It also saves lots of time & effort as the phone companies do all the work.
Its different to any other mobile phone website, as Bid My Bill doesn’t rely on any of the existing available tariffs, but instead asks the phone companies to make a one-time, unique best offer.
The process is completely safe & secure as all private information is hidden form the auction; and phone users can even choose their preferred handset, network, bolt-ons & free gifts or cash-back.
Bid My Bill is the brainchild of serial entrepreneur, Dave Bell, who says “‘The idea for this came about 18 months ago,’ says Bell. ‘I was trying to get a new O2 contract as it was up for renewal. There are a lot of contract tariffs to choose from, but how do I know which one is best for me without guessing? I got through to the customer retentions department and was given a lot of offers, including discounts to stay with O2. I thought, why don’t I open up my valuable renewal contract to other providers? ‘All of my historic billing data is online. I can log in and see it, but no one else can. What if I pulled that billing information out, hid my private data and then opened it out to the other networks to bid for in a seven-day auction? This is what sparked the idea for BidMyBill.’
The website is still in beta but launched for phone companies last month. It has since signed up several of the networks and a handful of the UK’s main phone retailers, along with lots of independent retailers who are vying to bid for new business through this innovative new medium.
