Huawei offering tablet for wireless touch control on telepresence systems

Huawei has recently improved the usability of its RP series room telepresence system with an optional new 10-inch tablet.

Videoconferencing as easy as using a smartphone
The new tablet used in Huawei’s room telepresence system has an Android-based, smart videoconferencing application installed, which is simple, intuitive and user-friendly. With the tablet, users enjoy one-touch power-on/off and are given control over the entire conference process. They can easily initiate conferences, control cameras, manage chair control rights, switch between multiple presentation modes, configure settings, and customize the conference control screen. Users will experience little learning curve when using the videoconferencing system for the first time, and can focus more on collaboration than on the technologies themselves.

With the tablet, users can initiate conferences in four different ways: through contacts, keypad, conference history, or scheduled conferences. Using these controls is just like using a smartphone, except that the functions have been expanded and customized for videoconferencing based on user preferences.

In multipoint conferences, users often look at the current speaker to have an effective conversation. With tablet control, after obtaining chair control rights, users can enable voice activation switching by speaker or by site to ensure that the video of the speaker is always on screen. The tablet also enables users to add sites, extend conferences, release chair control rights, hide captions, as well as a full suite of other functions.

Video communication technology is increasingly used in video collaboration. Industry applications, such as in education, health care, and design, not only require full HD audio-visual quality, but also functions to share pictures, Word documents, slides, video, and other contents. Switching between different viewing modes in conferences is also a must. The latest touch panel of Huawei’s room telepresence system allows users to quickly share presentations and switch between multiple display modes, including full screen, picture in picture, two panes, and three panes, exceeding users’ expectations for high quality communication.

Taking videoconferencing users’ preferences into full consideration, Huawei specially designs a wireless touch-control system for its telepresence systems. Through the tablet, users can not only query and configure parameter settings, but also can customize the conference control screen while they walk around the conference room.

Built-in MCU, making multi-party collaboration even simpler
Users will be able to choose built-in Multipoint Control Units (MCUs) with different capacities for their room telepresence system to enhance multi-party collaboration. The RP100 and RP200 with 40-inch or 46-inch screens support conferences with up to four participants. The RP100 and RP200 with 55-inch screens support conferences with up to six participants.

There are currently six models of Huawei RP series room telepresence systems for customers to choose from: RP100-40, RP100-46, RP100-55, RP200-40, RP200-46, and RP200-55. These models flexibly support three installation configuration options: floor stand with wheels, floor stand without wheels, and wall-mounted. Users can choose the best product for them depending on the conference scale and application scenario.
